Accreditation
The Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University is accredited by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME). In 2017, Katz received a full eight-year accreditation from LCME and is now preparing for its 2025 re-accreditation. Katz was founded in 1901 as Pennsylvania’s first co-educational medical school and has been accredited since before the LCME was founded in 1942.
Students who receive their medical education at an LCME-accredited school, such as Katz, are certified as having completed their requirements for a medical degree. This allows them to obtain a license to work as a resident under the supervision of a licensed physician in all 50 states and the District of Columbia.
Visit the LCME website for a full list of accredited programs. For more information about Katz’s LCME accreditation, please visit the accreditation page on the Katz School of Medicine website.
Temple University Hospital is an Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME)-accredited sponsoring institution.
